Okay Girls...I Need Some Help!

So, I emailed our RE to see what her insight about the embryo adoption was and if she would be able to be the one to do the process with us. She informed me that the process I would have to go through would be a FET, which I figured. She told me that she would recommend bloodwork and a check up to make sure my body is doing all it's supposed to. This is what the adoption agency requires as well, so no biggie there. Then she said she would prescribe estradiol pills to "create a normal uterine lining". She said this works better than a natural cycle and actually requires LESS monitoring. They would monitor typically with a blood test after one week on medication. If the level is good, we would continue and bring me back for an ultrasound and second blood test a week later. If all looks well, we set a time for the transfer and tell me when to start your progesterone. The we do the transfer and continue the medication until you find out if you're pregnant. If it works, you will need some support until about 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Of course she didn't answer my NUMBER 1 question...How much?

This all seems status quo, but my question to you guys is does anyone have any experience with the estradiol pills? How much do they run? Side-effects? I have been super busy at work this week...Report card weekend, dun, dun, dun. So, I'll be doing all my researching as soon as that's all done.

The RE said their success rate was 50%, but she's not sure what ours would be because she's not sure what bank the agency will get the embryos from...MOre research for me.

As of right now, embryo adoption seems wonderful and I can't believe that through all of this, I might just be able to carry our baby and become the mom I've always dreamed of. Somebody pinch me!

Well duh!!!! I am so dumb. I was thinking it meant when the baby was in utero in someone else's belly, you adopt that embroyo. I see said the blind man. Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad that if this works out, you'd get to experience that part!

SO excited for you!!! My RE had me on the Estradiol pills with my last two IVF cycles but I had to administer them as vaginal suppositories instead of taking them orally. I really didn't notice any side-effects. Price??? I'm not sure, but I would think that they would be significantly cheaper than the injectable infertility drugs. Check to see if your insurance plan might cover them. I would think that other women might have to be on estrogen supplements even if they're not going through a fertility procedure. Just a thought...

This may not be very helpful but I had to take some before my IVF. I have no idea if they did what they were supposed to do, however I do know that I have a baby. So something must have worked correctly. I would do what the doc thinks is the best chance at you getting pg.
I'm so excited for you guys!!!!

Yay!!!!! I am so excited for you. I am praying really hard for you. I don't know the prices but I am thinking it is way less expensive than the fertility meds you have to take during an IVF.

I emailed you about the hospital. Just wanted to make sure you knew!

With the clinic I'm going through, the total cost for the transfer is about $2500 and the meds (Lupron, estradiol and progesterone in oil) are about $400-500. The FET is soooo much cheaper than an IVF cycle. I was on estradiol during our IUIs and I had no side effects at all.

If you want to e-mail me, you can!

I found your blog through another TTC blog. I love what I've read so far. I don't have any advice since we only just finished our 2nd IUI, but I will say I hope this works out for you! It sounds so very exciting!
